Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFThas been referred to as ‘psychological acupressure’. It is sometimes referred to as ‘tapping’ and many people, (usually viewers of breakfast TV), have seen Paul McKenna use this technique to assist people to completely overcome all kinds of anxieties, fears and phobias.

The technique involves stimulating acupressure points, (mainly on the face and the upper body), by tapping them with the tips of the fingers. This is done whilst focusing on specific aspects of a problem or unwanted response; most commonly we use ‘reminder words or phrases’ that enable the client to activate the pathways in the nervous system that run the specific ‘problem’.

For those who haven’t yet experienced EFT for themselves, it can appear a little odd, however, the technique is highly effective and can produce life-changing results very quickly. For example, using EFT it is usual for the negative emotion to be released or ‘disconnected’ from a specific, traumatic memory within just a couple of minutes, and for the memory to feel emotionally neutral. EFT is commonly used to treat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and is extremely successful in treating a wide-range of emotional, mental and physiological issues.
